THQ Nordic and developer Grimlore Games have postponed the Steam Early Access launch of Titan Quest II to summer 2025, originally planned for earlier this year, to avoid clashing with a crowded action RPG release window. The sequel to the 2006 classic aims to blend mythological adventure with modern ARPG mechanics, and the delay ensures a stronger debut.
The recent playtest focused on the game’s introductory chapter, set in a vibrant world inspired by Greek mythology. Players explored the setting, chose their masteries and battled the first major boss, Apollonia the Terrible. Surveys revealed that 92% of participants had a positive experience, with strong praise for the game’s visuals, audio, exploration, narrative events, and immersive world.
Feedback highlighted combat as a key area for improvement, with some players reporting sluggishness, imprecise aiming, and a need for better ability balance. The developers also introduced two features tailored to classic fans: a traditional control scheme using the left mouse button for movement and attacks, and the option to choose between mouse-based navigation or WASD keys.
Titan Quest II promises a rich ARPG experience, with a hand-crafted open world, flexible character customization through dual masteries, and challenging enemies drawn from Greek lore. By delaying Early Access to summer 2025, THQ Nordic aims to refine combat mechanics, polish performance, and deliver a game that stands out in a competitive genre.
