India’s Nazara Technologies has just bought Curve Games, a UK-based indie publisher, for a hefty 21.7 million pounds. This is a pretty bold move by Nazara as they really push to become a major global player in the gaming industry, specifically looking to grow beyond just mobile games and get bigger in the PC and console markets.
This acquisition of Curve Games happened right after they raised a huge $108 million last September, and just a month after they bought Fusebox Games for $27.2 million. Nitish Mittersain, Nazara’s CEO, says that Curve’s talent for publishing great indie games makes them a perfect match. He explained: “Their expertise in PC and console publishing really helps us grow globally and develop games that can be played across different platforms.” He added that this deal “deepens our capabilities and opens doors for Indian game developers to reach the world.”
Founded in 2005 by Jason Perkins, Curve Games has really made a name for itself in the indie gaming world. They’ve supported titles like The Ascent, alongside their massive hit Human: Fall Flat, which has sold over 50 million copies. Curve’s executive chairman Stuart Dinsey also shared his thoughts on the deal: “Nazara’s ecosystem and access to emerging markets make them a strong ally. We’re excited to grow together and take our indie platform to new heights.”
