Hooded Horse has announced a partnership with Minakata Dynamics, known for their simulation-heavy game Railgrade, to publish their new city-builder game, Whiskerwood. This game features a cat and mouse theme, where players must create a home for industrious mice under the rule of their cat overlords.
In Whiskerwood, you arrive on untouched islands full of resources and must quickly establish a mouse colony to meet the demands of your feline masters. As the colony grows, so do the demands of the cat rulers, forcing you to decide whether to continue serving or rebel.
Whiskerwood’s gameplay involves gathering, manufacturing, and trading over 40 different commodities, from raw materials like wood and ore to luxury items like furniture and tea. You must build upwards and dig downwards to maximize space, requiring precise planning. The game also features complex supply and logistics systems, including water pumps, conveyor belts, and lifts, to ensure efficient transportation of goods.
Additionally, you can unlock new policies and interact with other mouse factions, including dealing with pirates. Research and development of new production methods are essential for efficiency, and strategic combat is necessary to expand influence and engage in turn-based battles using warships when needed.
Whiskerwood will be released into early access for PC via Steam.
