Sam Sokolow is confirmed as a speaker for the Blender: Film & Games Conference in Croatia

Sam Sokolow, two-time Emmy Award nominated producer and an award winning filmmaker and former president of the independent television studio EUE/Sokolow, will be coming to Croatia to speak at the Blender: Film & Games conference. He will lead a panel titled How the Stage 32 platform can help you get involved in global film production, where he will discuss how this platform can help filmmakers connect with the global film industry.

Sam is best known for his role as executive producer of GENIUS, a series on the National Geographic Network. The first season, GENIUS: EINSTEIN, followed the life of Albert Einstein, with Geoffrey Rush in the lead role and Ron Howard directing the pilot. This season earned ten Emmy nominations, including Best Limited Series. The second season, GENIUS: PICASSO, focuses on the life of Pablo Picasso, starring Antonio Banderas. It premiered in April 2018.

Before leading EUE/Sokolow, Sam co-founded SokoLobl Entertainment, an independent TV production company. He also wrote, produced, and directed the award-winning feature film The Definite Maybe, starring Josh Lucas and Roy Scheider. In 1999, Sam made history by becoming the first filmmaker to self-distribute his own feature film on the internet, earning national recognition from Good Morning America and Time Magazine.

Throughout his career, Sam has worked in many areas of the entertainment industry, including marketing campaigns for the NFL, producing commercials, and even reporting for the New York Daily News. He has been represented by the prestigious Creative Artists Agency (CAA) since 2001.

After five successful editions of the PROFilm Days conference, the Croatian film and video game industries are merging to create a new platform for discussing current topics – Blender: Film & Games. The conference will be held on October 4, 2024, at Algebra University, and the panels and workshops are free for all interested participants, with prior registration open until October 3 at 6:00 PM via this link. The program will take place across two stages and in workshop rooms, while the lobby of Algebra University will host the AV Career Day, providing interested participants with information on career opportunities in the audiovisual industry.
