”Photorealistic” dark horror game Ritual Tides revealed for PC and consoles

Vertpaint, a studio made up of former senior developers from studios such as Rockstar Games, CI Games, and TT Games, has announced their debut horror game Ritual Tides. This cinematic adventure with unique dark vision will launch for PC in Q3 2025, followed by “all major consoles” shortly after.

In Ritual Tides players will find themselves washed up on a beach on a mysterious island off the Southwest coast of Cornwall, with their only goal being to uncover the horrific secrets of that place. Gruesomely designed enemies lurk around every corner, so you need to try your best to hide or outrun them. Ritual Tides will also present a “gun,” but not in a typical fashion, which will set it apart from other games within this space.

Ritual Tides is being developed using what the team describes as a “two stream” approach, meaning design and game mechanics are prioritised alongside art research and development. Enemy variation is central to the development ethos and unlike other horror focused titles, Ritual Tides will provide a wealth of encounters, each more uniquely terrifying than the last.

More on this will however be uncovered in February 2025, when the team will reveal gameplay.
