Indie developer Voidmaw has announced that Katanaut, their upcoming action-roguelite game, will be releasing a playable demo in early January 2025. The demo will be available on PC via Steam, giving players the first taste of this relentless, eldritch-infused experience.
In Katanaut, you play as an astronaut with a katana who fights through a crumbling space station filled with terrifying creatures. The game mixes skill-based combat with a spooky atmosphere, as you fight through waves of nightmarish enemies and discover the station’s scary secrets. Each playthrough is different, featuring a blend of randomly generated areas and specially designed locations.
The game is about fast and intense fighting. You need to learn how to slice, block, and dodge enemies quickly. As you get better, you can unlock new skills, like teleporting or doing big explosions. You’ll also face big bosses that are hard to beat, and you’ll need to time your attacks and movements just right to win.
