The icy world of Frostpunk 2 warmed the hearts of judges at the Digital Dragons Awards 2025, where 11 bit studios walked away with three dragon egg statuettes, including Best Polish Game of 2024. The gala was held on May 19 at the ICE Krakow Congress Centre during one of Europe’s biggest gaming conferences.

Frostpunk 2, the sequel to 2018’s award-winning survival strategy hit, clinched awards for Best Polish Game, Best Polish Game Design, and Best Polish Game Audio. The game’s mix of tough choices, city-building, and chilling music in a frozen world really made an impact, and you can find out more in our review as well.

Meanwhile, Critical Hit Games’ debut Nobody Wants to Die turned heads with its noir-soaked detective story, picking up Best Polish Narrative and Best Polish Visual Game Art for its dystopian New York setting. Rage Quit Games took Best Polish Mobile Game for Tomorrow: MMO Nuclear Quest, while Canada’s Balatro by LocalThunk was crowned Best Foreign Game for its addictive card-based gameplay.

A special moment came when Magdalena Cielecka of Anshar Studios received the Special Recognition Award. A developer, researcher, producer, and academic lecturer, Cielecka has left a mark on titles like Gamedec and Irony Curtain. The Krakow Technology Park, which organizes the Digital Dragons Conference, honored her as one of Polish gaming’s most influential voices. The gala also welcomed Tomáš Dvořák, known as Floex, whose soulful compositions for Samorost and Papetura added a magical touch to the evening.

For the first time, the Indie Dragons Awards shone a spotlight on smaller studios, with Deep Sleep: Labyrinth of the Forsaken by scriptwelder taking first place, followed by XYZ by Screen Tear Studios and ARMS OF GOD by Dark Jay.
