CRITICAL REFLEX and studio Denkiworks have released a new gameplay trailer for the charming adventure TANUKI: Pon’s Summer during the ID@Xbox Showcase. This game will be available for Nintendo Switch, Xbox Series X/S, Game Pass, and PC via Steam later this year, inviting you to step into the paws of Pon, a mail carrier and BMX expert with a big mission: to restore the Great Tanuki Shrine before the spring Matsuri festival.
In TANUKI: Pon’s Summer, you explore a picturesque Japanese town, delivering packages, pulling off BMX tricks, and helping locals with quirky quests. As Pon, a furry tanuki with a knack for biking, you’ll ride through vibrant streets, perform stunts, and immerse yourself in the charm of village life. The ultimate goal is to restore the Great Tanuki Shrine, but along the way, you’ll have plenty of opportunities to enjoy summer activities like baseball, sumo, taiko drums, and more.
The game also features a unique emoji-based dialogue system, allowing you to build relationships with the town’s quirky residents. Whether you choose to befriend or annoy them, your interactions will shape your story and add depth to the experience. The world of TANUKI: Pon’s Summer is inspired by the developers’ lived experiences in Kyoto, Aomori, Sapporo, and Beppu, creating a lovingly crafted environment that feels authentic.
