Nintendo Switch 2 Set for Grand Premiere in 2024

Nintendo is gearing up for the long-awaited unveiling of its latest console, the Nintendo Switch 2, with a planned release this year. According to a report from Omdia, as reported by Bloomberg, the new console will have an 8-inch LCD screen instead of OLED.

Despite the controversy among fans who see it as a technological decline, sources suggest that Nintendo intends to produce 10 million units of the Switch 2 in the fiscal year starting in April 2024. The estimated price of the console is around $400.

Analysts speculate that the use of an LCD screen could be a temporary cost-cutting measure, suggesting the possibility of an OLED-equipped version in the future. Despite the lack of details on the Switch 2's design, internals, and launch titles, the news of planned mass production has naturally sparked excitement among console enthusiasts.

Nintendo's decision to produce a significant number of units is intended to meet high demand and avoid availability issues that have occurred during previous console launches. However, probably even 10 million copies will not be enough to satisfy gamers' appetites in the first year.
