CryoGX’s debut game, Advent Neon, was featured at the Get Excited About Showcase last week, revealing a new trailer and its July 18, 2025, release date for PC via Steam. In this fast-paced platformer, you play as the titular hero Neon, a robot on a mission to retrieve his creator’s body in the futuristic city of Neopolis.

You’ll race through diverse levels and cityscapes like Sonic, battling various enemies along the way. You'll have to utilize flashy, genre-typical directional attacks, master combo moves, and an eight-directional dash mechanic to overcome obstacles. The developer calls this fluid movement system “schmovement,” combining jumping, wall-running, and standard dashing.

The game’s stunning cyberpunk-inspired pixel art and futuristic aesthetic will immediately grab your attention. While inspirations from Mega Man Zero and Celeste are visible, Neon introduces fresh elements through its platforming and combat, along with character personalization options for Neon himself.

  • Galactic Glitch is a fast-paced twin-stick roguelike shooter that has just launched from its Early Access phase. Set in a simulated universe, you control an AI-piloted spaceship tasked by a mysterious entity, Siren, to escape a glitched simulation. What will definitely catch your eye is the physics-based combat, letting you manipulate the environment and enemies as weapons.

The core loop of Galactic Glitch involves navigating interconnected “bubble” arenas, clearing enemies, upgrading your ship, and battling bosses. You wield a gravity gun to grab and hurl objects such as asteroids, missiles, mines, or even enemies, turning them into powerful projectiles that deal more damage than standard weapons and can stun foes. For example, picking up an enemy’s rocket and tossing it back or smashing foes into asteroids creates dynamic encounters.

Plenty of weapons to try and enjoy

Standard weapons like lasers or railguns, more unlocked as you play, complement the gravity gun, featuring a special shot that charges during combat for powerful bursts. Also, the dash mechanic lets you dodge attacks or ram enemies with certain upgrades, making the combat feel smooth and responsive. However, relying on environmental objects can make fights in sparse arenas less exciting, and the screen can definitely get clogged with objects.

Each bubble you enter contains enemies along with rewards like orbs, credits, power-ups, or optional high-reward Rift Battles. Teleportation portals let you backtrack, but the map’s simplicity limits strategic navigation. In other words, there are several lines connecting each bubble; sometimes they can be blocked, forcing you to unlock a special ability that can unlock the path or force you to move to the open nearby area.

Galactic Glitch offers various biomes with a range of enemies, but they grow repetitive as rooms in the same biome feature similar waves, making bosses much more enjoyable than regular enemies. There’s plenty of bosses, each requiring a unique strategy to get defeated and they get stronger as you keep playing. Each run lasts 30–60 minutes, letting you pick your path through shops, upgrade stations, or boss arenas.

“Explore, loot and fight your way through hostile space.”

Upgrade system is a big let down

The upgrade stations feel oddly designed, making it unclear what you’re actually improving or what might be useful. You pick from three upgrades, but it’s confusing, at least for me, since there’s no color coding to show what’s being enhanced, just vague stats like an 18% weapon damage boost. Plus, you can finish a level in two ways: clearing all bubbles or opting for a quick win by beating the biome within a time limit. Rushing works decently with strong starting stats, but to get more powerful, exploring everything is advised, which makes speedrunning feel costly and frustrating.

My biggest issue is the upgrade system, it feels like you’re not improving since upgrades are rare, which feels strange. Additionally, there is a shop you can find, but every item inside is vaguely explained. I don’t want to spend a good 10 minutes clearing a biome to find an upgrade station, as it gets repetitive and I just want to move on. Plus, you get healed after finishing a biome, making the risk of taking damage seem less significant.

To be honest, taking everything in consideration, the gameplay is quite fun, with each battle lasting about 15 seconds and offering a proper fast-paced action. You can deal more damage by getting behind enemies and shooting them in the back, though it’s inconsistent since it’s not clearly marked what counts as the back. Still, you won’t waste much time playing this game overall.

“The gameplay is quite fun, with each battle lasting about 15 seconds.”

Fast-paced roguelike experience that’s fun to play

When it comes to graphics, Galactic Glitch boasts neon-soaked visuals blending cyberpunk and sci-fi vibes, reminiscent of Tron. Its 2D art shines with glowing pink, purple, and blue colors against a dark space backdrop, while explosions and debris scatter in colorful arcs, creating a psychedelic show. However, the graphics focus more on function than flair, with simple designs that don’t challenge modern style.

Given its price, solid roguelite structure, shooter elements with innovative physics-based combat, and simple controls, Galactic Glitch can definitely get addictive, especially if you’re a fan of the genre or Dead Cells. It offers a strong replayable setup, though the upgrade system feels lackluster to me, while the bosses stand out as the game’s best feature. Plus, you can enjoy it on Steam Deck.

    Pros Cons
Simple combat and roguelike structure. Repetitive enemies.
Challenging and fun bosses. There is no big difference in biomes.
Fast-paced gameplay. The upgrades are not interesting.
Works on Steam Deck. Mediocre graphics.

Debutant Cubit Studios showcased the first trailer for their sci-fi action game Infinitesimals during Summer Game Fest. Published by Epic Games, it will be available on PC via the Epic Games Store, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S. This ambitious project shrinks you to the size of a bug in a vast, alien world filled with giant obstacles, hostile wildlife, and advanced robotic threats.

In Infinitesimals, you play as the leader of an elite alien ship, stranded on a mysterious planet. Reduced to bug size, you navigate a massive landscape where ordinary plants like mushrooms become significant barriers. Unlike Obsidian’s Grounded, which focuses on surviving against bugs, Infinitesimals introduces a broader range of dangers.

Beyond the local wildlife, you’ll face Hunter Gatherers, enemies dominating the planet. As you search for missing team members and uncover the fate of a lost colony, the game weaves a tale of survival and exploration. Cubit Studios, debuting with this project, draws clear inspiration from sci-fi classics. Additionally, the advanced robotics of an alien civilization add a layer of intrigue; some machines will attack, while others hint at deeper mysteries.

Looking for a publisher who knows what they’re doing? Kwalee is the one. They just dropped a game on Steam called The Precinct that people seem to really like. But they’re also cooking up something totally different: a disco-punk space horror boomer shooter game called RetroSpace. It mixes stealth, action, and immersive sim elements set in a retro-futuristic world. It’s releasing on PC via Steam, but we don’t have a release date yet.

The story of RetroSpace kicks off way in the future. You’re just a regular janitor on this huge space station, Aurora 5, which is part of the last bunch of humans trying to find a new planet. But then things get seriously weird, a black hole that’s somehow alive swallows the station. Suddenly, it’s this crazy maze filled with mutant creatures that are part animal and part plant, security robots that are totally glitched out, and time warps that flip you between two different time periods.

The plot is described as this “disco-fever space-satire,” so it sounds like it’ll have some funny moments but also some surprising depth, kind of like if Dead Space and Prey had a baby. The way Aurora 5 is laid out in RetroSpace is like a big, connected puzzle box. As you explore and go deeper, you’ll unlock shortcuts and find secret ways to get around. There’s also this main area that’s mostly safe, a place where you can actually take a breather from all the scary stuff on the station.

Staying alive means you gotta think smart, because the enemies are all different. They act in their own ways, have different powers, and are weak to different things. You can even mess with the station’s security to set traps, get the defenses to fight for you, or use things like light and shadows to sneak past enemies. So, every fight feels like its own little puzzle to solve.

RetroSpace lets you play your own way. If you like being sneaky, you can try to avoid fights by hiding or causing distractions. But if you’re feeling brave, you can just run in and start swinging, even using bits and pieces you rip off enemies as weapons. You can also find these crazy experimental upgrades called Mutamods that give you superpowers, like tentacle arms or the ability to control minds.

Brain Jar Games has revealed the first trailer for Dead as Disco, a vibrant rhythmic beat ’em up drenched in neon aesthetics, set to launch on PC via Steam at an unannounced date. The game follows Charlie Disco, a fallen music icon seeking vengeance against his former bandmates, the Idols, in a single night of high-stakes action.

The story unfolds in a non-linear, handcrafted narrative of reunion, revenge, and redemption, set against a world fractured by music, fame, and betrayal. Ten years after the band’s breakup, the living members of Dead as Disco plan a reunion concert to honor Charlie, unaware that he’s back to confront them and uncover the truth behind his death.

Combat is the heart of the game, with punches, kicks, and takedowns syncing seamlessly to the soundtrack, creating a rhythmic flow dubbed “Beat Kune Do.” Mastering this musical combat unlocks new talents, moves, and dances, enhancing Charlie’s abilities. You can customize the experience by adding your own songs, alongside a streamer-safe original soundtrack and licensed tracks spanning multiple genres.

The game’s world is rich with customization, allowing you to collect flamboyant fashion inspired by the stars of Disco’s universe, ensuring Charlie always looks the part. You can also personalize the Dive Bar, a hub where collecting memorabilia unlocks pieces of the band’s true story, deepening the narrative. The hand-drawn, neon-soaked visuals bring the chaotic world to life, blending retro and modern vibes.

The post I Returned to ReSetna After the Ruby Armour Upgrade and I Loved It first appeared on IndieGames.

    ]]>
When I first played ReSetna, a metroidvania-style action-platformer from Today’s Games, I was intrigued by its ambitious premise: a world of sentient machines ravaged by a monstrous virus, with a metallic maiden named ReSetna awakening to fight for survival. However, my initial experience left me wanting more; combat felt clunky, controls lacked precision, and some design choices didn’t quite click. Fast forward to March 2025, and the release of the Ruby Armour Upgrade update on Steam convinced me to give it another shot. Spoiler alert: I’m glad I did.

The Ruby Armour Upgrade, released on March 13, 2025, isn’t just a cosmetic tweak, it’s a full-on reinvention of ReSetna’s core mechanics. The standout feature is the reworked combat system, which now feels fluid, responsive, and downright satisfying. The new Ruby Armour doesn’t just make ReSetna look striking with its sleek, crimson design; it enhances her combat capabilities in meaningful ways. Attacks are sharper, with tighter controls that make every swing of the machadinha, slash of the sabre, or thrust of the naginata feel impactful.

The update makes ReSetna’s combat faster and more fluid. Chain attacks are quicker now, aerial counters have been added, and combos hit harder. My favorite addition is the projectile reflect move, it creates smart new opportunities for parries and counters. Whether dashing between enemies or chaining air attacks into powerful finishers, the combat flows with a new rhythm. It’s clear Today’s Games really listened to player feedback when making these improvements.

Beyond combat, the Ruby Armour Upgrade brings a few of quality-of-life improvements. The final boss fight, another pain point from my first playthrough, has been rebuilt from the ground up, offering a challenging yet fair conclusion to ReSetna’s journey. Side quests now feel worthwhile, doling out rewards and upgrades that encourage you to explore every corner of this haunting, mechanical realm.

Since ReSetna first launched, the team has released 14 updates in just one month, they’ve been incredibly quick to listen and improve things. The rough spots I noticed during my first playthrough are now smoothed out, creating a much better experience that mixes fast combat with satisfying exploration. The chip upgrade system (which lets you change ReSetna’s abilities anytime) works perfectly with the new combat options, giving you more freedom to play your way.

The story, with its deep psychological themes and cool boss designs, feels even better now that the gameplay lives up to it. For me, this update transformed ReSetna from a promising game into something that everyone should give a try. It’s not just about the Ruby Armour addition, it’s about a small indie team getting another chance and absolutely nailing it.

ESDigital Games and Magic Hazard have announced the official release date for Memory Lost, a top-down shooter set in a dystopian metropolis. The game will launch on March 6, 2025, for PC via Steam and Epic Games Store, with console versions for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch coming later.

The game’s core mechanic revolves around mind-capturing, allowing you to take control of enemies and use their strengths to your advantage. With limited resources, like a single magazine of ammo and no first-aid kits, you must rely on this ability to survive and complete their missions.

Memory Lost offers a unique blend of action, strategy, and storytelling. The game features 60 unique enemies, each with their own abilities that you can take over to influence the outcome of battles. The game’s five skill trees allow for endless configurations, letting you experiment with different combinations to find the playstyle that suits you best.

The story is driven by the Neural Network, the game’s main character, which evolves as you capture enemies’ memories. These memories shape the Neural Network’s personality and unlock new abilities at the Mind-Map hub. The game also introduces a karma system, where your actions, whether killing for the common good or showing mercy, affect the story and lead to one of three possible endings.

As Jacob fights to uncover the truth about his past, he is drawn into a world shaped by artificial intelligence, high-tech experimentation, and unchecked military power.
