The roguelike adventure Grimroll, developed by Under the Stairs, was announced during the Dice Dimensions event on Steam, organized by Anshar Publishing a few weeks ago. The game blends a strategic, grid-based combat system with dice-rolling mechanics. While it doesn’t have a confirmed release date yet, it will be available for PC via Steam.
The game is set in a mysterious and dangerous forest, where every dice roll can determine victory or defeat. It combines risk-and-reward tension with roguelike elements such as procedural generation and permadeath. Visually, Grimroll boasts a stylized and atmospheric art direction, full of intricate details and a unique aesthetic that set it apart.
Grimroll features a grid-based battle system: dice are positioned on the left side, while items, equipment, and enemies appear on the right. This setup requires careful positioning and movement, reminiscent of Into the Breach, but with dice as the driving force behind actions. Additionally, the game emphasizes dice combination chaining to unleash powerful attacks and buffs.
