French studio Eko Software has announced that their latest project, Dragonkin: The Banished, will enter Early Access on Steam starting March 6, 2025. The game was first revealed at NACON Connect 2024, and today, we received a new gameplay overview featuring insights from the game’s lead designer, Jonathan Gabrielli, who provided additional details about the project.
In Dragonkin: The Banished, you will enter a dragon dominated world, selecting from four heroes, each with unique abilities and combat styles. The game can be played solo or in co-op mode with up to four players. A key feature is the Ancestral Grid, a skill system that allows you to enhance your character’s abilities by strategically placing fragments collected during gameplay. This system provides limitless options for character customization and the development of unique combat strategies.
Another key part of the game is The City, a hub that serves as humanity’s last refuge. Here, you can upgrade your equipment, interact with NPCs, and personalize your experience with visual improvements. After completing the main storyline, you will unlock endgame content that includes new modes, bosses, and battles. This content will grow throughout the Early Access phase, ensuring plenty of challenges for dedicated players.
