New game studio Blue Scarab Entertainment announces $7M investment and new MMORPG project

Blue Scarab Entertainment, a new game studio based in Stockholm, Sweden, has announced its formation along with a $7 million seed investment. The studio is founded by industry veterans who have worked on notable games such as Helldivers 2, World of Warcraft, Battlefield, and Age of Conan.

The investment is led by NetEase Inc and Behold Ventures, with contributions from key figures like Jonas Antonsson, Ólafur Andri Ragnarsson, and Stefan Lindeberg. Led by CEO Colin Cragg and CTO Enno Rehling, Blue Scarab Entertainment aims to create a unique MMORPG using Unreal Engine 5. The game will combine cozy exploration, true-crime elements, and horseback riding in a story-driven experience.

The team includes experienced developers like Craig Morrison, Guillaume Lhoyer, and Ashley Nicollette. They bring a wealth of experience from their previous roles at DICE, Blizzard Entertainment, Funcom, and Arrowhead Game Studios.
