The original Splitgate was a free-to-play first-person shooter released in 2019, featuring a unique portal-jumping mechanic. It started as a school project created in a student dorm room and eventually amassed over 22 million downloads on PC and consoles.
Ian Proulx, CEO and co-founder of 1047 Games, revealed that Splitgate 2 has been designed from the ground up in Unreal Engine 5 to provide an authentic FPS experience, with significant improvements made by a top-tier team of industry experts. Proulx describes Splitgate 2 as a revolutionary step for competitive shooters, offering an excellent starting point for new players and a significant upgrade for existing fans of the genre.
Additionally, three unique factions allow players to choose and progress according to their preferred playstyle or competitive strategies, while a wide selection of arenas, weapons, and game modes keeps things fresh. Furthermore, this title can be played solo or with friends in multiplayer.
