The MIX Summer Showcase 2025 launched Summer Game Fest, highlighting over 55 innovative indie games from different genres. This event, formerly known as the Guerrilla Collective, featured A Gentlemen’s Dispute, a slapstick, physics-based party brawler promising chaotic fun and a unique twist on gentlemanly competition.

In A Gentlemen’s Dispute, you fight to be the last gentleman standing in a wild brawl. Fun is key here, and the game lets you toss your floppy characters as weapons to hit others. Everything around you can break, and you can grab anything, from sticks to bear traps, to secure victory. Between fights, you can pick upgrades that stack, like dropping bombs when hit or gaining an extra jump. Up to four players can join on one screen, or eight can play online.

What makes A Gentlemen’s Dispute so appealing is its focus on wackiness over intense competition. Unlike many party games, it prioritizes fun and randomness above all. The demo, available on Steam, lets you try various moves, so gather your crew for a wild multiplayer experience.

Just when we hoped Summer Game Fest 2025 couldn’t deliver something totally wild, unexpected, and unique, Felt That: Boxing took the stage. This “brawler” combines the charm of plush puppets with the fun of arcade boxing. Developed by Sans Strings Studio in collaboration with Stoopid Buddy Stoodios, it’s currently a PC-exclusive title on Steam, requiring a controller, with no release date set and uncertainty about a console launch.

In Felt That: Boxing, you step into the gloves of Ezra “Fuzz-E” Wright, an unlikely hero and orphan. He enters the “Million Punch Tournament” to save his beloved puppet orphanage from a greedy developer. Despite lacking boxing talent and a legacy from his late father, a former boxer, Fuzz-E’s journey is a 12-hour tale of outsider resilience, filled with parody and surprising emotional depth.

Visually, the game blends a handmade puppet aesthetic inspired by stop-motion animation. Its retro charm, reminiscent of classic Nintendo Punch-Out!!, places you behind Fuzz-E’s back for a third-person ring view.

Timing, dodging punches, and chaotic super moves like “Furry Flurry” are key to victory. Each opponent brings unique fighting styles and stage hazards, while training mini-games, like cleaning toilets or dodging burnt toast—add a playful twist to skill development.

The studio Tubanar from Brunei, in collaboration with HyperTrain Digital, announced its debut game Class Zero Seven, which brings a fresh take to the brawler genre with its bold and dark approach. Players are drawn into the world of action through the character Rin, a mysterious new student facing a coalition of school gangs and the threatening influence of a group called The Wicked Children.

The game's slogan "Be a delinquent" reflects its practical, action-oriented style. Although an official trailer has not yet been released, the developers shared gameplay footage on X, which looks promising. The game maps, filled with everyday items that serve as weapons, allow you to choose your own approach to each fight and gradually dismantle the gangs' dominance. Throughout the story, the game also depicts a community struggling with substance addiction issues.

Diverse areas on the maps provide opportunities to explore various schools and urban locations, all to strengthen alliances with characters who possess unique skills and personalities. This depth in settings and character interactions adds a strong narrative component that sets the game apart from classic fighting titles, allowing players to shape relationships that impact the story and gameplay itself.

Class Zero Seven does not have a release date yet, but it is planned for release on PC (Steam), Xbox Series X/S, and PlayStation 5.

A group of developers who previously worked on Awesomenauts has come together to form a new game studio called Rangatang, based in the Netherlands. These developers, once colleagues at Romino Games, decided to regroup after Romino filed for bankruptcy in 2023. Romino’s well-known games Awesomenauts and Swords & Soldiers were sold to Atari, leaving the team in search of a new path.

Before Romino closed, the team had been working on a project that never saw the light of day. Now, the founding members of Rangatang have acquired the rights to that project and revealed it as a new game called Nubs!, described as a “chaotic multiplayer arena brawler.” Rangatang is developing Nubs! in collaboration with Glowfish Interactive, and the game is expected to launch on PC in 2025.

Oliver Thijssenn, co-founder of Rangatang, expressed excitement about the future of their new studio: “After a difficult time following the closure of Ronimo Games, we’re excited about our future with our own studio, Rangatang.” He added that their collaboration with Glowfish Interactive is allowing them to bring everything they’ve learned from their past experiences into the development of Nubs!.

While the core of Nubs! was originally developed at Romino Games, Rangatang has made significant changes to the game. They’ve worked closely with Glowfish Interactive to shape the game into a unique multiplayer experience that they say is full of “indie charm and nostalgia.”

The multiplayer brawler game, Bare Butt Boxing, will officially leave Early Access and launch for Nintendo Switch and PC via Steam on August 1st. PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4 versions will follow at a later date. Bare Butt Boxing first entered Early Access for PC on May 4, 2023.

In Bare Butt Boxing, colorful and mischievous aliens land on Earth to host unregulated boxing matches. The goal is to launch your opponents or the giant beach ball into portals to earn points based on the game mode. The player with the most points when the round ends wins.

The game offers various modes and multiplayer options. You can face up to three friends locally, join up to six players online, or fight with bots in single-player mode. Punching is not the only way to win. You can collect item boxes to use special powers, such as a powerful vacuum that sucks up opponents and throws them off, or super frenzy that gives you extra strength and speed to dominate the match.

“We are truly grateful to all the players that joined us in Early Access,” said Tuatara founder Klemen Lozar in a press release. “With 1.0, we wanted to wrap up the game with more content and a bigger emphasis on local multiplayer, which has been heavily requested.”

  • STARTING PRICE: 13,79 €
  • REVIEWED VERSION: PC
  • I’m a huge fan of party games, so when I had the chance to play Grapplers: Relic Rivals, I was excited to try it out with my friends. This PvP 2D platformer and brawler is perfect for LAN gaming or for spicing up an evening when you’re hanging out and having a few drinks. However, the game is somewhat lacking in content. It takes about two hours to explore all the maps and levels, and to experience everything related to combat. Keep in mind, this game isn’t designed for single-player mode; its main purpose is to showcase your skills to your friends.

To be honest, I can’t quite compare Grapplers to any specific game—maybe Super Smash Bros or something similar? Regardless, the main concept revolves around your grappling hook, which you can use to climb different areas, deal damage, or make a quick escape. You can also jump on your friends to deal damage and activate mystical runes by shooting your hook at them, which give various status effects, like explosions. Additionally, you can find relics hidden in chests. Personally, I found the relics to be the best part of the game. They grant abilities such as double-jumping with wings or having a companion plant that shoots at others. Testing and experiencing different relics was fun, and there are enough of them to keep things interesting.

This game is clearly a platformer, so the levels are packed with deadly traps; you might get electrocuted, burned, or squashed by a massive boulder. Each level offers a different type of challenge you’ll have to face. The game features four distinct biomes, and inside of them there are several maps with different layouts. For example, you’ll compete against your friends in environments like a winter biome or a volcano biome.

To win, you need to collect a certain number of coins, and all win conditions can be adjusted in the options. Each match lasts no longer than five minutes, as the maps are quite small. The intensity ramps up with four players, but even with just one other person, it becomes a highly competitive game. Grapplers is all about chaos, with perfectly executed camera zooms that keep the action intense. I enjoy the variety of ways you can dominate your friends, but the fun tends to fade quickly when playing against the same people for more than an hour.

What I would love to see in this game is more maps and levels, as well as a single-player mode with online multiplayer and leaderboards. Right now, there’s little reason to keep returning to this game unless you have a few friends to play with. I enjoyed playing more with the mouse than the controller, but both options work perfectly fine. Additionally, Grapplers offers Steam Remote Play, which is essential for a game like this, allowing you to hop on and play anytime. Unfortunately, it’s currently limited to local multiplayer only.

The game also features well-crafted pixel graphics, with numerous details that enhance its visual appeal. It easily adjusts to wide screens, demonstrating the effort put into creating a perfect PvP experience. I only wish the images of coins and chests were slightly bigger, as it's easy to lose track of them amidst all the chaos. Similarly, I'd like to see more customization options. Currently, you can only choose from the same four characters, which can get boring after a while.

To conclude, this game takes me back to my childhood, when we would gather around the Nintendo Wii and compete with each other. Grapplers elevates that experience, incorporating modern elements to make the gameplay even more enjoyable. However, keep in mind that this game is perfect only if you have a group of friends willing to play. For the price, it’s definitely worth it, though it does lack additional content.
