Devolver Digital has announced that Baby Steps, one of its quirky games, will be delayed until 2025. This news was shared during the publisher’s annual “Delayed Awards,” where they jokingly talk about game delays. Fans of Devolver’s unique games, like Hotline Miami and Cult of the Lamb, will have to wait a little longer to play this silly game.
Baby Steps, made by a three-person team that includes Bennett Foddy, the creator of Getting Over It, promises a unique gaming experience. You’ll play as an “unemployed failson,” moving through the world by carefully putting one foot in front of the other. The game features tricky walking mechanics that can make you feel both frustrated and amused, similar to the awkward controls found in games like Octodad and Foddy’s earlier work.
The game takes place in an open world that you can explore and has an ever-changing soundtrack. It also has fun features like non-collectible hats and a “fully dynamic onesie soilage system,” according to Devolver’s website. The early gameplay trailer shows a funny and chaotic adventure with a main character who has a lighthearted attitude, building excitement for fans of quirky simulation games.
