Even the most experienced block-stackers will need to rethink their strategies in the new game Drop Duchy. This new strategy roguelite hybrid is set to release later this year on PC via Steam, brought to you by publisher The Arcade Crew (known for The Last Spell and Infernax) and developer Sleepy Mill Studio. A playable demo will be available on Steam in the coming weeks.
Drop Duchy offers a unique twist on the classic block-stacking gameplay. Instead of just filling lines, you will thoughtfully build a kingdom using various types and shapes of pieces. The game challenges you to strategically place structures next to forests, streams, or grassy plains to optimally utilize the land’s resources and grow a bustling realm. Additionally, mercenary camps benefit from being placed beside certain terrains, creating a balance between earning perks and denying foes critical advantages before a climactic battle.
Additionally, you can unlock upgrades and modifiers in the form of cards, gaining new bonus-granting structures, boosts to soldier recruitment and resource gathering, and other perks through deep deck customization. If forces fall before claiming the fortress, you can quickly jump into a new round and experiment with a different strategy.
